On the occasion of Independence Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a total of 1,090 medals to be awarded to personnel across various services. This year’s awards include Gallantry Awards, the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, and the Medal for Meritorious Service.
Police Medals
A total of 950 medals will be awarded to police personnel. Of these, 226 Gallantry Medals will be conferred, with the highest number going to personnel from Jammu and Kashmir, followed by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Border Security Force (BSF). Additionally, 89 officers will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, and 635 will be honored with the Medal for Meritorious Service.
Other Services
- Fire Services: A total of 62 medals have been announced, which includes 6 Gallantry Medals, 5 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service, and 51 Medals for Meritorious Service.
- Home Guard and Civil Defence: Personnel will receive one Gallantry Medal, 3 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service, and 41 Medals for Meritorious Service.
- Correctional Services: Two officers will be honored with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, and 31 will receive the Medal for Meritorious Service.
These annual awards recognize the exceptional bravery, dedication, and service of individuals who work to maintain law, order, and public safety.
