ACB Arrests RDD Junior Engineer in Bribery Case

Following a complaint, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu & Kashmir initiated an investigation into a junior engineer (JE) from the Rural Development Department in Shopian. The complainant alleged that the JE, while trying to facilitate the release of a payment of ₹7.5 lakh, had demanded a bribe of ₹20,000.

After verifying the complaint, the ACB registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and set up a sting operation. The JE was caught in the act of demanding and accepting the ₹20,000 bribe. The money was recovered from him, and he was immediately arrested.

In connection with the case, searches were conducted at the JE’s homes in Kachdoora, Shopian, and Kanipora, Nowgam, Srinagar. The investigation is ongoing.
