Following the recent arrest of several operatives of the banned terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), the Punjab Police announced they have recovered a hand grenade.
The Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, posted on X that the Counter Intelligence team in Jalandhar recovered one 86P Hand Grenade. This recovery was the result of a swift investigation following the arrest of two BKI operatives, Ritik Naroliya and a juvenile, a few days prior in Rajasthan.
The police chief stated that disclosures from the arrested individuals led to the further arrests of their associates: Vishavjit, who was apprehended in Kolkata while attempting to flee to Malaysia, and Jackson from Nakodar. These arrests ultimately led to the discovery of the hand grenade.
According to Yadav, all the accused were operating under the direction of Zeeshan Akhtar and Ajay Gill, BKI masterminds based in Canada.
Vishavjit and Jackson had retrieved two hand grenades from the Beas River in the last week of July. One of these grenades was used in a recent explosion at a liquor shop in SBS Nagar by other members of the same module.
An FIR has been filed at the Police Station State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar. The DGP affirmed that the Punjab Police are dedicated to neutralizing terror networks, eliminating organized crime, and maintaining peace and public safety throughout the state.
