The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has registered a First Information Report (FIR) and arrested four individuals for their alleged involvement in a land fraud and criminal conspiracy case.
The accused have been identified as:
- Khurshid Ahmad Bhat: A Patwari (revenue official)
- Ghulam Nabi Bhat
- Abdul Rashid Parray
- Sajid Rashid Parray
According to officials, the case was initiated based on a complaint alleging that the accused, led by Khurshid Ahmad Bhat, fraudulently posed as landowners to sell a 7-kanal, 2-marla plot in Mouza Nuner, Ganderbal. The land, however, was later discovered to belong to a migrant Kashmiri Pandit, with a third party holding the power of attorney.
The complainant had already paid over Rs. 1.19 crore of the total Rs. 2.76 crore sale price before the fraud was uncovered.
A preliminary investigation found evidence of a criminal conspiracy involving forged documents and impersonation. The accused are facing charges under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including cheating (420), forgery (468), using a forged document as genuine (471), and criminal conspiracy (120-B).
The case has been registered at the Economic Offences Wing, and further investigation is ongoing.
