India’s Congress president, Mallikarjun Kharge, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of five army personnel who were killed during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. He affirmed the nation’s unwavering solidarity against terrorism.
“I am deeply saddened by the martyrdom of five army personnel, including two captains and three jawans, who made the ultimate sacrifice while battling terrorists in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir,” Kharge stated in a social media post.
On Wednesday, five army personnel, including two captains, were killed during an operation against terrorists in the Bajimaal area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
The fallen soldiers are Captain M V Pranjal from Mangalore, Karnataka; Captain Shubham Gupta from Agra, Uttar Pradesh; Havaldar Abdul Majid from Ajote in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir; Lance Naik Sanjay Bist from Halli Padli, Uttarakhand; and Paratrooper Sachin Laur from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
Kharge commended the soldiers’ bravery for exhibiting exceptional courage and valor in their fight against terrorists.
“In this time of grief, our deepest condolences go out to their families and loved ones. India remains united and strong against terrorism,” the party leader asserted.
Two terrorists, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander trained in Afghanistan, were killed in a 36-hour-long gunfight with security forces that spanned Wednesday and Thursday.
