The Amarnath Yatra has resumed on Friday, July 18, 2025, after a day-long suspension due to heavy rains and landslides in Kashmir. A fresh group of over 7,900 pilgrims departed from Jammu, heading to the 3,880-meter-high Amarnath cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas. The pilgrimage also restarted from the Pahalgam and Baltal base camps in Kashmir.
The 16th batch of 7,908 pilgrims, including 5,957 men, 1,613 women, 26 children, and 310 sadhus and sadhvis, left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu. Escorted by CRPF and police personnel, their journey began in 261 vehicles between 3:30 am and 4:25 am.
Baltal Route: The first convoy, with 2,879 pilgrims in 92 vehicles, set off for the shorter 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district.
Pahalgam Route: A second convoy of 5,029 pilgrims in 169 vehicles followed, taking the 48-km traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district.
