Anantnag Police Busts Drug Operation, Seizes Over 2 kg Charas

On Saturday, Anantnag Police made significant strides in combating drug trafficking by arresting two individuals and seizing a substantial amount of contraband in separate operations in Bijbehara and Sangam.

In Bijbehara, officers from the Police Station Bijbehara intercepted Mohd. Yousuf Mir of Dupatyar during a routine checkpoint near Dupatyar crossing. A search of his person yielded approximately 1 kilogram of a substance resembling Charas powder.

Meanwhile, in Sangam, a police team from Police Post Sangam, stationed at Nati Pora Sangam Bund, apprehended Manzoor Ahmad Dar of Nati Pora Sangam. Dar, who was carrying a polythene bag and attempting to evade police, was found with 1.290 kilograms of a charas-like substance.

Both individuals have been taken into custody, and cases have been registered under the relevant sections of law. Further investigations are underway.

Anantnag Police reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating drugs from society and urged the public to assist in their efforts by providing any information related to drug trafficking. They assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
