Srinagar – Jammu and Kashmir is set to experience a combination of hot and humid weather alongside periods of rain in the coming days. The Meteorological Department (MeT) Srinagar has issued a warning about intense showers and a risk of flash floods, particularly in parts of the Jammu division.
MeT Director, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, detailed the forecast:
- July 26-27: Expect hot and humid conditions with brief showers in a few isolated areas.
- July 28-30: Intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely across the region. However, the Jammu division is specifically cautioned for intense and heavy rain, mainly occurring during late night and early morning hours.
- August 1-3: Generally hot and humid weather is anticipated, accompanied by scattered rain and thundershower activity.
The MeT Centre has specifically highlighted the period between July 28 and 30 for increased vigilance. During this time, the region could see intense showers, gusty winds, heavy rain, and a significant risk of flash floods in vulnerable areas. There’s also a possibility of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones.
Farmers are advised to resume their farm operations as appropriate given the expected weather patterns.
