Jammu: Gyanendra Pratap Singh, Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), recently convened a high-level meeting in Jammu to assess the security preparedness of the force for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. This extensive review comes ahead of the 38-day pilgrimage to the 3,880-meter-high cave shrine in south Kashmir, which is scheduled to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 9, as announced by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).
The CRPF took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that DG CRPF G P Singh chaired a crucial meeting at the Jammu Sector Headquarters with senior officers to evaluate security readiness for Amarnath Yatra 2025. The discussions focused on scrutinizing arrangements in detail to ensure the seamless movement of devotees.
Earlier in the week, the DG also visited the Kashmir valley, where he conducted a strategic review of the yatra’s preparedness to ensure its smooth conduct. His visit included key pilgrimage locations, such as base and transit camps, allowing him to assess on-ground arrangements and reaffirm the commitment to providing a secure, smooth, and spiritually enriching yatra for all devotees.
Pilgrims undertake the journey to the Amarnath cave shrine via two main routes: the traditional 48-km path through Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, and the shorter but steeper 14-km Baltal route in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
To bolster security for the annual pilgrimage, the Centre has mandated the deployment of 580 companies, translating to approximately 42,000 on-ground personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
