Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, recently appointed election commissioners, officially began their duties on Friday. These former bureaucrats were chosen for the positions just a day earlier, on Thursday.
They hold the distinction of being the first appointees to the Election Commission since the new law governing the selection of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Election Commissioners (ECs) came into effect.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar welcomed them, highlighting the importance of their arrival at this crucial juncture. The Election Commission is gearing up to conduct the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a spokesperson relayed.
