Continuing their strong efforts against drug abuse, the District Police Reasi reported two successful interceptions today by the patrolling party of Police Station Katra.
In the first incident, while conducting routine patrol at Searly, Katra, the police intercepted a pedestrian, Sunny Mehra, son of Parshotam Mehra, resident of Ward No. 10, Panthal Tehsil Katra, District Reasi. Upon frisking, authorities recovered 3.70 grams of heroin from his possession.
Consequently, Case FIR No. 125/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Katra. An investigation is underway to identify the source and destination of the recovered contraband.
In a separate operation, a police team from Police Station Katra established a special checkpoint (Naka) at Balini, Katra. During this operation, they stopped an Auto bearing Registration No. JK14A-8417. Upon checking the vehicle and its driver, Arjun Singh, son of Panchal Singh, resident of Gunni Parthal, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, 3.60 grams of heroin were recovered.
In response to this seizure, Case FIR No. 123/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra, and an investigation has been initiated to trace any forward and backward links related to this case.
The entire operation was spearheaded by SHO P/S Katra Inspector Khyatimaan Khajuria, under the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhism Dubey and SP Katra Vipan Chandran.
Paramvir Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, shared these details and reaffirmed the Reasi Police’s dedication to achieving a drug-free society. He emphasized, “Reasi Police is employing a comprehensive strategy to eradicate drug abuse and the illegal liquor trade within the district. Alongside ongoing awareness campaigns, stringent legal measures, including the application of the PIT NDPS Act, are being taken against those involved in drug peddling.”
