During the night of May 2nd and 3rd, the Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked small arms firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
Source said that Indian Army troops stationed in the forward areas responded swiftly and proportionately to this cross-border provocation, successfully silencing the hostile fire.
The firing, which occurred without any apparent trigger, targeted several sectors along the LoC. Officials reported no casualties on the Indian side, and the situation was brought under control.
An army officer stated, “There was unprovoked small-arms fire from across the LoC opposite Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor during the night. Our troops responded appropriately, ensuring no loss of life or damage to property.”
This incident has renewed concerns regarding the persistent ceasefire violations, despite existing agreements between the two nations to maintain peace along the LoC.
In the meantime, security forces in the border regions remain on high alert, and vigilance has been increased to prevent any further hostile actions.
