Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurates a week-long Mega Surgical Camp in Doda and Kishtwar, aimed at providing crucial medical assistance to the region.
The camp, organized by Rotary International in collaboration with the District Administrations of Doda and Kishtwar and the Department of Health & Medical Education, will operate at three locations: the Associated Hospital of GMC Doda, District Hospital Kishtwar, and SDH Bhaderwah. Specialized and experienced doctors will perform superspeciality and general surgeries across various medical fields.
During the inauguration ceremony at SDH Bhaderwah, Lieutenant Governor Sinha commended Rotary International, district administration officials, healthcare personnel, and volunteers for their dedication to this initiative. He emphasized the J&K administration’s commitment to “Health for All,” highlighting improvements in healthcare infrastructure and services.
“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have significantly strengthened the healthcare sector,” stated Lieutenant Governor Sinha. He outlined efforts to ensure doctor availability, affordable drugs, enhanced diagnostics, and improved delivery mechanisms, particularly focusing on addressing non-communicable diseases.
He also addressed security concerns, urging citizens to report divisive elements attempting to disrupt peace, reiterating the government’s resolve to eradicate terrorism.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted ongoing development projects in J&K, including substantial investments in highways and tunnels. He also stressed the importance of promoting private investment to boost Bhaderwah’s tourism potential.
During his visit, he interacted with beneficiaries and directed the District Administration to create a database of Divyangjan for future medical camps. He also assured action on issues raised by the DDC Chairman Doda.
This Mega Surgical Camp, the fourth of its kind organized by Rotary International in J&K, expects to benefit over 2000 patients. Prior to the camp, extensive medical screenings were conducted, with over 750 patients already selected for surgeries in specialties like ENT, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery, and Urology, utilizing advanced laparoscopic technologies.
The camp will offer free surgeries, OPD facilities, pre- and post-operative care, consultations, diagnostics, medicines, and boarding/lodging for patients and their attendants, facilitated by Rotary and district administration teams.
Attendees included Dhanantar Singh Kotwal, Chairman of the District Development Council Doda; Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; Shridhar Patil, DIG, Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range; Harvinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner Doda; Dr. Rajeev Pradhan and other Rotary International members; medical institution heads; senior officers; doctors; nursing staff; and a large number of local residents.
