IED Found on Srinagar-Baramulla Highway Defused, Traffic Restored

A suspected IED was defused along the national highway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday morning.

The IED was found in the Hanjivera area of Pattan by the security forces during the Road Opening Procedure (ROP). The ROP is a daily drill that is executed to secure the national highway, which is used by hundreds of vehicles of the Army, central armed police forces (CAPFs), and VVIPs.

The area was immediately cordoned off and the traffic movement on the highway was halted. A Bomb Disposal Squad was called and the suspect object was blasted in a controlled explosion without causing any damage.

The traffic on the highway was later restored.
