The Jammu and Kashmir government has issued a firm directive to all doctors and paramedical staff in its healthcare institutions: strictly adhere to the norms of wearing white aprons and nameplates during duty hours.
This order comes in response to observations that many medical professionals, including those working under the National Health Mission (NHM) and Ayush, are not wearing aprons or properly displaying their identification. This non-compliance has reportedly caused confusion among patients and their attendants.
“It has been observed that doctors and paramedical staff in various government healthcare institutions are not strictly adhering to the prescribed norms regarding the wearing of aprons and displaying of nameplates during duty hours,” the circular states. “Such non-compliance is causing inconvenience to patients in identifying healthcare personnel.”
Consequently, all doctors (including NHM and Ayush staff) and paramedical personnel are now mandated to wear proper white aprons and legible nameplates displaying their full name and designation at all times while on duty.
Heads of institutions, medical superintendents, and chief medical officers are responsible for ensuring strict compliance within their respective facilities.
