J&K: Narcotic Smuggling Attempt Thwarted, Two Arrested with 200 Grams Charas

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking under Operation Sanjeevani, the Ramban Police, led by SSP Ramban Shri Anuj Kumar IPS, apprehended two individuals in Banihal for possessing charas.

During a routine check at T Chowk Banihal, a police team from Police Station Banihal stopped two pedestrians for questioning. The individuals identified themselves as Umar Sharief, son of Mohd Sharief, and Musavir Hussian Shah, son of Imtiyaz Hussian, both residents of Kaskoot village in the Banihal Tehsil of Ramban district.

A search revealed approximately 200 grams of charas in their possession. The police registered an FIR (First Information Report) No. 41/2024 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at PS Banihal.

The accused have been arrested, and the seized contraband is being held as evidence. The investigation is ongoing to uncover any potential connections to the drug trafficking network.
