Jammu and Kashmir Police announced Monday the arrest of an interstate drug kingpin, Dhani Ram, from Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh. Ram, a resident of Salooni village, was a wanted individual in an NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act case at the Chenani police station in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a police spokesperson, a team from Udhampur successfully apprehended Ram. Evidence, including technical, financial, and oral testimonies, indicated his involvement in drug trafficking for over a decade. Due to his prolonged criminal activity, Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been invoked—a first in an NDPS case.
