Major Drug Bust in Katra: Reasi Police Recover Heroin, Pills, and Arrest 3

easi Police are intensifying their crackdown on drug trafficking in Katra as part of their “Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh” (A War Against Drugs) campaign. In the last six months, Katra Police Station has registered 28 FIRs and booked 39 drug peddlers, demonstrating a strong commitment to creating a drug-free society.

Recent Operations Target Drug Peddlers

On July 3, 2025, Reasi Police conducted three separate operations, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a significant amount of narcotics:

  • Operation 1 – Yog Ashram, Katra: Police intercepted Sham S/O Shanker Dass (38) from Udhampur and recovered 270 Tramadol capsules and 1740 Alprazolam tablets from his bag. He was arrested, and a case (FIR No. 189/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act) was registered.
  • Operation 2 – Nomain Naka: Vijay Sharma S/O Tirath Ram from Saroon, Katra, was arrested during routine checking while traveling towards Katra. He was found in possession of 7.120 grams of a heroin-like substance. A case (FIR No. 190/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act) was registered.
  • Operation 3 – PCP Moori: Police stopped a motorcycle (HR29AJ5750) and arrested the rider, Balwan Singh S/O Budhi Singh from Mundharzani, Doda, for carrying 5.570 grams of heroin (Chitta). The motorcycle was seized, and a case (FIR No. 188/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act) was registered.

These successful operations were executed under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria, with the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Sh. Vipan Chandran-JKPS.
